Current Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering!  Due to the generous response, volunteer openings have been filled for this school year.

If you are interested in volunteering your time during the next school year or during the summer, let us know by contacting (320)231-8300 extension 6835.  School year volunteer openings at the Willmar Middle School, Kennedy and Roosevelt Elementary Schools include positions as lunch buddy, reading buddy, homework helper, and room helper.  Please be aware:  Before beginning as a volunteer helping with children in the schools, individuals are responsible for completing, paying for and passing a Willmar Public School background check as well as a volunteer application form.

Additional volunteer opportunities involve donations child guides accept for children.  Throughout the year, child guides collect basic need items children lack.  Help from individuals volunteering to locate or collect donated basic need items are always appreciated.  In August, the child guides collaborate with the United Way of West Central Minnesota in a school supply drive for needy children.  Volunteers able to move boxes and inventory items will be needed.  No background check is necessary.

Child guides also accept donated musical instruments that are in good condition.  These are lent to children whose families are unable to afford the rent or cost of a band or orchestra instrument for their child.  This allows a child to begin involvement in the school’s music programs.  Individuals interested in volunteering to help with this effort are also appreciated.

Your support, as a volunteer or through donations, is sincerely appreciated.  It helps a children reach their full potentials and mature into caring, resilient and responsible individuals.  We believe all children deserve what they need…and dream.
